Frank Jordan

Davidson selected Frank Jordan as the 2024 Jack Burney Award recipient.

The award is named for G. Jackson Burney who served the town in many capacities, primarily in planning and communications. Since 2004, Davidson has honored Burney and those whose unselfish service benefits the community.

Community members are invited to attend the G. Jackson Burney Community Service Award ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 10 am in the auditorium of the Davidson Town Hall and Community Center, 251 South St. The North Mecklenburg Moravian Band will play at 9:30 am, and Mayor Rusty Knox will open the ceremony at 10 am.

Jordan is on the Board of Advisors for the Davidson Community  Foundation. The foundation bio describes Jordan this way: his way:

Jordan was a supervisor at the Asbestos Mill in Davidson for four years, and was a supervisor at Reeves Brothers for 26 years, attended business seminars in Charlotte and Statesville, and has had additional business dealings in painting and real estate. He helped organize the first Ada Jenkins Center Board and refurbish the run-down building to make it useable for so many people today.

Public service comes naturally to this board member who served on the Davidson Transportation Board and the Parks and Recreation Board. For Davidson Presbyterian Church, Jordan has served on the Deacon Board, Steward Board, Trustee Board, Elder Board, and the Capital Campaign Board. He often takes care of senior citizens in the area because that’s what God has called him to do. He has enjoyed baseball, hunting and fishing, and who was educated at Dunbar High School in Mooresville.
