Feb. 28. By Dave Vieser. If you were stuck in traffic Friday afternoon on West Catawba Avenue, it wasn’t the traffic signal system that failed. This time the culprit was a new-car transporter that broke down right before the I-77 bridge.
Eastbound traffic was delayed as far back as Bethel Church Road.
Turns out there was a major challenge maneuvering a large tow truck onto the Diverging Diamond Interchange.
—Shout out to James Taylor for the headline inspiration.
As luck would have it, Friday was also the second day of an unrelated detour on Catawba Avenue near the Cain Center for the Arts construction zone in downtown Cornelius which slowed traffic on the east side of town as well.
