Oct. 4. Crosswalk improvements at Westmoreland Road connecting the two phases of McDowell Creek Greenway between Magnolia Estates and Birkdale Village at Sam Furr are under way and should be completed early next year.

The new, well-marked crosswalk will include a High Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) pedestrian signal system. To watch a video of a HAWK in use, click here.

The crosswalk at Lake Pines/Amberwood Glen will be removed, according to town officials.

The town is considering the HAWK system for Jetton. The earliest funding would be available would be next fiscal year.
