Feb. 5. Winter storms forced the cancelation of more than 530 American Red Cross blood drives in January, which means up to 15,000 donations went uncollected.

Indeed, the Red Cross canceled nearly as many blood drives last month than it did for all of 2023.

There are a number of blood drives this week, starting with sites in Davidson and Huntersville on Monday and Tuesday, and in Cornelius, at JV Washam Elementary on Thursday.
