Oct. 27. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported fewer COVID-19 hospitalizations by far, but new cases have climbed.
The number of hospitalizations is at 1,406, half that of early October. The volume of cases in today’s report was 2,160, up from 1,340 new cases yesterday.
Deaths
The NCDHHS also reported 47 new COVID-related deaths statewide. A death reported yesterday in Huntersville was reclassified as non-COVID, for a total of 74 coronavirus deaths in 28078, not 75.
Testing
The statewide positivity rate fell slightly, to 5.3 percent.
Mecklenburg
In Mecklenburg County, there were 134 new cases overnight.
North Mecklenburg (change from Tuesday)
• Cornelius: 5 new cases, 4,007 cumulative total, 30 deaths cumulative total.
• Davidson: 4 new cases, 2,323 cumulative total, 19 deaths cumulative total.
• Huntersville: 3 new cases, 8,735 cumulative total, 74 deaths cumulative total.
