Nov. 1. The volume of new COVID-19 cases in today’s NC Dept. of Health & Human Services report is within striking distance of 1,000, and the lowest number reported since the Delta variant hit in July.
The NCDHHS reported 1,096 new cases. On Oct. 1, the NCDHHS reported 4,963 new cases; on Sept. 1, 7,248 new cases.
There have been a total of 1.482 million cases since the pandemic began almost two years ago.
Hospitalizations
Hospitalizations have fallen every day since Oct. 19. The NCDHHS today reported 1,211 North Carolinians hospitalized due to COVID.
Deaths
The NCDHHS also reported 54 new COVID-related deaths between Friday’s report and today’s..
Testing
The statewide positivity rate climbed slightly to 5 percent.
Mecklenburg
In Mecklenburg County, there were 451 new cases between Friday and today. There were also seven new deaths, according to NCDHHS.
North Mecklenburg (change from Friday)
• Cornelius: 7 new cases, 4,027 cumulative total, 31 deaths cumulative total.
• Davidson: 11 new cases, 2,341 cumulative total, 19 deaths cumulative total.
• Huntersville: 35 new cases, 8,789 cumulative total, 74 deaths cumulative total.
