March 4. COVID-related hospitalizations continue to fall statewide, dropping to 1,336 today from 1,401 as per the NC Dept. of Health & Human Services.

The NCDHHS also reported reported 2,646 new cases, the fourth day NC case volumes have risen. The bottom was 909 new cases on Monday Feb. 28.

Testing

The statewide positivity rate fell to 4.3 percent today while the Mecklenburg 14-day trailing average fell to 7.1 percent.

Mecklenburg (change from Thursday)

There were 192 new COVID cases reported countywide and one new death.

North Mecklenburg (change from Thursday)

• Cornelius: 4 new cases, 6,700 cumulative total, 35 deaths cumulative total.

• Davidson: 11 new cases, 4,056 cumulative total, 21 deaths cumulative total.

• Huntersville: 4 new cases, 15,165 cumulative total, 89 deaths cumulative total.
