March 23. As of today, the NCDHHS will report COVID data weekly, but some of today’s data is the same as yesterday’s—for example, statewide hospitalizations (616), total Mecklenburg cases (277,020) and Mecklenburg deaths (1,555).

What’s new today
—There were 2,842 new coronavirus cases reported in North Carolina last week, down from 3,924 the week before,
—Statewide, there were 39 new deaths attributable to COVID in today’s NCDHHS report.
—COVID-19 particles found in wastewater last week were 1.7 million; this week they were 1.2 million. We will not be reporting on wastewater particulates in future weeks.
—Hospital admissions statewide due to COVID dropped from 524 last week to 401 this week.
