Dec. 6. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services Monday reported 2,101 new COVID cases. Positivity rates both statewide and in Mecklenburg County were reported above 7 percent.
It’s still a far cry from a year ago at this time. Though the COVID-19 data have been trending upward recently, there were still three times more cases reported Dec. 6 last year when the NCDHHS said there were 6,438 new cases in a single day.
Back on Dec. 2, 2020 the statewide positivity rate was 10.4 percent.
Positive test rate
The statewide positive test rate Monday reported at 7.7 percent; Mecklenburg County’s at 7.6 percent.
Hospitalizations
State health officials said there were 1,307 people hospitalized with COVID statewide, the highest level since late October
Deaths
The NCDHHS Dec. 6 also reported 35 new COVID-related deaths statewide.
North Mecklenburg
There have been no new deaths due to COVID-19 in North Meck since Dec. 1.
