Dec. 1. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services reported 3,039 new cases of the coronavirus, up from 1,755 new cases yesterday and 1,725 new cases reported on Monday after the holiday. The NCDHHS reported 2,318 cases on Nov. 24, the day before Thanksgiving.
Hospitalizations
There were 1,157 people hospitalized in North Carolina due to the coronavirus. On Nov. 1 there were 1,211 people hospitalized with COVID, according to the NCDHHS.
Deaths
The NCDHHS also reported 36 new COVID-related deaths today.
Testing
The statewide positivity rate eased to 7.3 percent today, from 9.4 percent yesterday and 8.3 percent Monday. In Mecklenburg: 6.7 percent average over 14 days.
Mecklenburg
In Mecklenburg County, there were 219 new cases today, and five new COVID-related deaths.
North Mecklenburg (change from Tuesday)
• Cornelius: 8 new cases, 4,145 cumulative total, 32 deaths cumulative total.
• Davidson: 1 new case, 2,417 cumulative total, 19 deaths cumulative total.
• Huntersville: 16 new cases, 9,128 cumulative total, 74 deaths cumulative total.
