Dec. 3. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported more than 3,000 new COVID cases for a third day in a row. Positivity rates both statewide and in Mecklenburg County remain over 5 percent—the key for easing mask restrictions in Mecklenburg.
The NCDHHS at noon today said there were 3,720 new cases statewide, down from 3,780 new cases yesterday.
Positive test rate
The statewide positive test rate was reported at 7.1 percent; Mecklenburg County’s at 7 percent.
Test kits
Starting Monday, free COVID-19 at-home test kits will be available at additional locations around the County. Test kits are available via curbside pick-up at designated library branches and public health locations. Click here for a current list.
Hospitalizations
State health officials said there were 1,202 people hospitalized with COVID statewide, down from 1,214 yesterday
Deaths
The NCDHHS today also reported 18 new COVID-related deaths statewide.
Mecklenburg County
There were 343 new cases in Mecklenburg, as well as one new COVID death.
North Mecklenburg (change from Thursday)
• Cornelius: 15 new cases, 4,167 cumulative total, 32 deaths cumulative total.
• Davidson: 9 new cases, 2,431 cumulative total, 19 deaths cumulative total.
• Huntersville: 30 new cases, 9,182 cumulative total, 74 deaths cumulative total.
