COVID-19 update Sept. 8: No new deaths in N. Meck for more than a week

Sept. 8. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 4,752 new cases of the coronavirus statewide, as well as 63 new COVID deaths statewide.

The steady increase in hospitalizations appears to be leveling off, along with the volume of new cases. According to today’s NCDHHS coronavirus report, there are a total of 3,790 hospitalized, about the same as Thursday last week (3,789), lower than Friday (3,800) but only slightly higher than yesterday (3,779).

There are 928 adult ICU COVID-19 patients statewide. Out of 1,849 ventilators available, 1,639 are in use.

Positive tests rose to 15.8 percent statewide,

Mecklenburg

In Mecklenburg County, there were 361 new cases from Tuesday to today, but no new COVID-related deaths. The county-wide positive test rate is 12.4 percent.

North Mecklenburg (change from Tuesday)

Cornelius: 9 new cases, 3,589 cumulative total, 26 deaths total.

Davidson: 7 new cases, 2,086 cumulative total, 15 deaths total.

Huntersville: 21 new cases, 7,761 cumulative total, 58 deaths total.

There have been no new deaths in North Meck since Aug. 26. Statewide, there have been 1,135 deaths since Aug. 9.
