May 24. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 680 people hospitalized due to COVID-19, roughly 20 percent of levels four months ago.

There were 3,512 people hospitalized on Jan. 22.

Meanwhile, the NCDHHS reported 581 new cases from Sunday to today,

Testing

The statewide positive test rate was at 3.7 percent percent in today’s report; Mecklenburg County was also 3.7 percent. Trending down from 5 percent is the goal, according to NDHHS.

Mecklenburg

238 new cases from Friday to today, as well as four new deaths in the same time period.

North Mecklenburg (change from Friday to today)

Cornelius: 0 new cases, 2,859 cumulative; 25 deaths total.

Davidson: 2 new cases, 1,684 cumulative; 15 deaths total.

Huntersville: 8 new cases, 5,995 cumulative; 53 deaths total.
