May 10. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 974 new COVID-19 cases, down from 1,932 new cases reported late Friday afternoon and 1,798 new cases reported last Thursday.

Hospitalizations

Statewide, hospitalizations were at 951, down from 1,007 one week ago.

Deaths

There were 10 new deaths attributable to COVID-19 statewide in today’s report, less than the 42 listed in Friday’s report.

Testing

The statewide positive test rate was at 5.7 percent percent in today’s report. Mecklenburg County was at 5.9 percent.

Cornelius: 6 new cases from Friday, 2,854 cumulative; 25 deaths total.

Davidson: 6 new cases from Friday, 1,666 cumulative; 15 deaths total.
