June 4. With 50 percent of North Carolina adults fully vaccinated, the NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported the COVID-19 positive testing rate has fallen to 2.5 percent. There were 680 new cases of the coronavirus statewide; 75 new in Mecklenburg.
Hospitalizations remained at 613 for the second day in a row, while COVID-related deaths increased by 21 from yesterday to today. There were no new coronavirus deaths in Mecklenburg County for the third day in a row.
The Mecklenburg positive test rate is at 3 percent, another new low.
North Mecklenburg (change from Thursday to today)
Cornelius: 3 new cases, 2,872 cumulative; 25 deaths total.
Davidson: 0 new cases, 1,688 cumulative; 15 deaths total.
Huntersville: 4 new cases, 6,027 cumulative; 53 deaths total.
