July 8. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services Thursday reported 630 new COVID-19 cases statewide, the largest daily increase since late May. Positive testing, which climbed to 4.8 percent yesterday, fell to 3.4 percent today. On July 1 it was 2 percent.
COVID hospitalizations were at 410 statewide in today’s NCDHHS report, vs. 396 on July 1. There were 15 new COVID deaths.
Mecklenburg County
In Mecklenburg County, there were 53 new coronavirus cases reported today, down from 67 new cases yesterday.
North Mecklenburg (change from Wednesday to today)
Cornelius: 1 new case, 2,908 cumulative; 26 deaths total.
Davidson: 1 fewer case (NCDHHS revision), 1,716 cumulative; 15 deaths total.
Huntersville: 1 new case, 6,125 cumulative; 54 deaths total.
