COVID-19 update July 23

July 23. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services Friday reported another increase in COVID-19 cases statewide—1,998 new cases, the highest since mid-April. Hospitalizations also increased, to 817 statewide, up from 536 one week ago.

Statewide, deaths due to the coronavirus rose by eight.

The statewide positive test rate was at 6.7 percent yesterday and today, with 5 percent and under the goal.

Mecklenburg County

In Mecklenburg County, there were 187 new coronavirus cases, and no new deaths for two days in a row.

North Mecklenburg (change from Thursday to today)

Cornelius: 1 new cases, 2,962 cumulative; 27 deaths total.

Davidson: 7 new cases, 1,745 cumulative; 15 deaths total.

Huntersville: 18 new cases 6,225 cumulative; 54 deaths total.
