July 19. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services Monday reported 734 new COVID-19 cases statewide, as well as 612 hospitalizations due to COVID, the highest number hospitalized since early June.
From Friday to today’s NCDHHS report, there were 2,950 new cases, or an average of 983 new cases per day. During the four days following Memorial Day (June 1- June 4), there was an average of 424 new cases per day statewide.
Positive testing has once again climbed through the critical 5 percent level, to 5.8 percent. Back in early June the positive test rate was were around 3 percent.
Since Friday, there were 16 deaths attributable to the coronavirus.
Mecklenburg County
In Mecklenburg County, there were 413 new coronavirus cases, from Friday’s report as well as three new COVID-related deaths.
North Mecklenburg (change from Friday to today)
Cornelius: 11 new cases, 2,943 cumulative; 26 deaths total.
Davidson: 6 new cases, 1,731 cumulative; 15 deaths total.
Huntersville: 15 new cases 6,175 cumulative; 54 deaths total.
There have been no new COVID-19 deaths in North Meck since the first week of July.
