Aug. 30. By Dave Yochum. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 4,569 new cases of the coronavirus statewide, as well as 93 new COVID deaths statewide from Friday to today, including another new death in Huntersville.
The steady increase in hospitalizations stopped at least for now, for a total of 3,509 hospitalized, falling from 3,651 statewide as of Friday.
Meanwhile, the median number of new cases over the last 7 business days (7,020), is 53.8 percent ahead of the median number of new cases during the past 30 business days (4,564). On Aug. 23, the previous week’s volume of new cases was nearly double the previous month’s.
Testing
Positive tests rose to 14.5 percent statewide, according to today’s NCDHHS report.
Mecklenburg
In Mecklenburg County, there were 1,579 new cases from Friday to today, and 10 new COVID-related deaths, including the one newly reported in Huntersville. The county-wide positive test rate is 13.1 percent.
North Mecklenburg (change from Friday)
Cornelius: 45 new cases, 3,457 cumulative total, 26 deaths total.
Davidson: 41 new cases, 2,028 cumulative total, 15 deaths total.
Huntersville: 123 new cases, 7,475 cumulative total, 59 deaths total.
