April 15. By Dave Yochum. The NC Dept. of Health and Human Services reported 2,434 new cases of COVID-19 statewide, up from 2,359 yesterday and 1,337 new cases reported one month ago on March 15.
The median number of new cases statewide during the past seven days (2,087) is now running 2.6 percent above the median number of new cases over the past 31 days (2,034), based on data collected by Johns Hopkins University. (See chart)
Hospitalizations
The NCDHHS today reported 1,020 people hospitalized statewide due to COVID-19, down from 1,045 yesterday.
Deaths
There were also 34 new coronavirus-related deaths in today’s report from the NCDHHS. Since state officials began tracking the outbreak in March, there have been 12,359 deaths due to COVID-19 across the state.
Mecklenburg
The NCDHHS reported 272 new cases in Mecklenburg County, down from 299 new cases yesterday and 388 new cases reported March 15.
There were no new COVID-19 deaths countywide in today’s report.
North Mecklenburg (since yesterday)
Cornelius: 5 new cases, 2,772 cumulative; 24 deaths total.
Davidson: 1 new cases, 1,614 cumulative; 15 deaths total.
Huntersville: 16 new cases, 5,668 cumulative; 48 deaths total.
