Cornelius Police collecting disaster supplies

Cornelius Police are collecting emergency supplies for Western North Carolina

Sept. 29. The Cornelius Police Department is collecting emergency supplies for victims of catastrophic flooding in Western North Carolina caused by Tropical Storm Helene as well as first responders.

One trailer load has already left. If you do bring supplies before their trailer returns, you can leave the donations in the lobby of the police department.

What’s needed

– Non perishable food (if they are canned foods, maybe add a manual can opener)
– Water
– Sports Drink Mixes
-Baby Formula
-Baby Food
– Hygiene Products
– New Socks/Underwear
– Tarps
– Large Trash Bags
– Duct Tape
-Shoes
-Rubber boots
-Work gloves
-Clean t-shirts/sweatshirts
-Flashlights
-Batteries
-Paper Towels
-Pet Food (again if canned, maybe add a manual can opener)
-Small tool kits
-Moist Wipes
-Sanitizer

-Hazardous materials (gasoline, propane)
-Used clothing

The Lake Norman Chamber is also collecting emergency supplies at Payroll Plus, 19300 Statesville Ave.
