April 2. Cornelius Police have arrested Tyler Beal, 16, and T`Elgin Kelly-Eisom, 18,  and charged with  Burning a Public Building after an arson fire in a restroom at Bailey Road Park. Officers observed a broken paper towel dispenser, burned debris and damage to the bathroom floor from a fire Monday, March 30. After reviewing surveillance video, police located two females in the area of the women’s restroom around 11:20 am.  They were seen leaving the restroom with a heavy cloud of smoke coming through the doorway. The Cornelius Fire Department and the Mecklenburg County Assistant Fire Marshal determined the fire was intentionally set. There was approximately $2,000 in damages.
