May 20. The Cornelius Jazz Festival returns to Smithville Park this Saturday, May 20.
The festival, with music, concessions, splash pad and more will take place from 5-9 pm at Smithville Park, 19710 S. Ferry St. It’s free to attend.
JMS Jazz Group will perform 5-6:30 pm and Buff Dillard performs 7-9 pm.
Concessions
Food options include Blasian Asian Way, Cheez Boss, Coco’s Cuisine LKN, Funnel Cakes by Pam, Honey Bee Lemonade, King of Pops, Lulu’s Hot Dog Stand, Oh My Ganache! and Tenders.
Beer, wine vendors are D9 Brewing and Eleven Lakes Brewing.
What else?
Children’s activities, a face painter, a caricature artist, local businesses, local artists and more will be available. Attendees can register to vote at the Unity in Community tent.
The official opening of Lake Norman Kiwanis Splashville Park also is Saturday. The splash pad will be open throughout the festival.
Do’s & don’ts
Bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the festivities; coolers and picnic baskets are welcome. No pets, glass of any kind, tobacco products, smoking, e-cigs, tents or open flames are allowed.
Parking
Parking is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Street parking is available along Catawba Avenue, and lot parking is available at First Baptist Church of Cornelius, 21007 Catawba Ave., the lot next to the Cornelius Library, 21041 Catawba Ave., and the Cornelius Elementary School, 21126 Catawba Ave.
A free, ADA-accessible shuttle will provide transportation between Cornelius Elementary School, First Baptist Church of Cornelius and the event.
