Cornelius resident Rhonda Lennon, a member of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Board of Education, will be in the hot seat at the Cornelius Today/Business Today Newsmakers Breakfast Thursday morning at The Peninsula Club.
Lennon was elected to the Board of Education in 2009 to represent District 1, the northern part of Mecklenburg County.
CMS is in the throes of a reassessment of the school assignment system, in light of burgeoning growth at charter schools and private schools and disappointing results at some inner city schools.
Lennon is a graduate of South Mecklenburg High School. She is also a graduate of UNC-Charlotte.
She started Families United for North Mecklenburg Education (FUME) in 2003 and has served on several education-related committees and the board of Charlotte Advocates for Education.
Newsmakers Breakfasts are an open-forum discussion with people in the news; questions are asked by the audience.
