Nov. 23. By Dave Vieser. Chase Bank’s Cornelius branch opens its doors today with full service in-person banking as well as drive through and ATM services at the two-story 3,000 square foot facility. The bank will be open Monday-Friday from 9-5 and Saturdays from 9-1.
Chase officials said they are excited about the new branch. “Cornelius is a wonderful, comfortable setting for us,” said Mark Lucas, marketing Director for the Carolinas. “We’ve actually had people knocking on the doors for the past two weeks anxious to know when we were opening, so we know there’s plenty of interest.”
Lucas said the Cornelius branch is part of Chase’s market expansion into the Carolinas which will include some 40 new locations.
Customers already here
The growth was spurred by a market survey which found more than 1 million Chase customers living in the Carolinas, yet no branches in either state. “Clearly, many people had relocated to the area from other parts of the country where Chase is well known, so we needed to establish new branches,” Lucas said.
FDIC reports indicate that deposits in Cornelius bank branches are in excess of $1 billion. Along with Chase, a new Fifth Third Bank Branch is under construction less than a 1/4 mile away on West Catawba Avenue.
Chase has recently opened a new branch in Birkdale Village. More are on the way.
“We have four additional branches set to open in the coming weeks,” said spokeswoman Allison Reed. Two are in Charlotte—one on Park Road and one on Freedom Drive—as well as one in Harrisburg and one in Gastonia.
