March 23. Catawba Avenue downtown near the Cain Center has reopened to two-way traffic, having been partially closed for the past month, with one lane of traffic rerouted behind the live-work units just west of Town Hall.
There will still be some occasional closures, but they will likely only be for one day at a time, according to Assistant Town Manager Tyler Beardsley. “There shouldn’t be anymore extended closures like the one we just finished,” he said.
Meanwhile, the first panes of glass are being installed at the $25 million Cain Center for the Arts, which is expected to be completed late this year.
