Dec. 11. NC Sen. Natasha Marcus says she will file tomorrow to run for Commissioner of Insurance against incumbent Mike Causey. She currently represents Senate District 41 which includes roughly half of Cornelius.
Separately, former NC Rep. Robert Brawley has filed to run for insurance commissioner on the Republican side. He was first elected to the legislature in 1981, representing Iredell.
David Wheeler, of Spruce Pine, NC, is also in the running for the Democratic nod for insurance commissioner.
The primary election is March 5, 2024. The general election is Nov. 5.
“The job of Insurance Commissioner touches almost every North Carolinian and should be held by someone who is on the side of the people,” Marcus said.
