Feb. 23. Cornelius’ Black History Month celebration on Feb. 24 will be a three-way partnership between the Town of Cornelius, Cain Center for the Arts and Smithville Community Coalition..
It all starts at 4 pm at Cain Center, where Sons of Mystro will do a private strings workshop for 30 members of the Cornelius Youth Orchestra.
From 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm there will be the official program in the theater put on by Smithville Community Coalition. It will include a spoken word poet, speakers like Mayor Woody Washam and more, as well as a special performance and address from Sons of Mystro.
The Black History Month program from 5:30 pm to 7 pm is free.
Special performance
At 7:30 pm, the theater doors will open for the evening’s performance of Sons of Mystro. At the end of the performance, the CYO String Students who participated in the workshop earlier that day will come onstage and perform a song with Sons of Mystro.
