“Art Works” on display at Brick Row Gallery

Eliis Sharon Artworks 2

“Through the Window of Time” by Jim Ellis and Sharon Anklin Goheen is constructed of salvaged pieces of old mills, buildings and finds from around the Cornelius area.

June 13. Brick Row Gallery in Cornelius will host an art exhibition through June 24. Initiated by the Cornelius Cultural Arts Group, “Art Works” proceeds will go to the Lake Norman Kiwanis Splashville Park.

The exhibition pays homage to the town’s history as interpreted by seven teams of local artists. The metal and mixed-media sculptures are made from re-purposed materials along with artifacts donated by Cornelius historian Jack Conard. Local artists participating are: Brian Rumping, Chris Owen, Don Lee, Mary Jo Piegaro, Jim Ellis, Sharon Goheen, Oliver Swanson, Lee Sultz and Jacob Laudert.

The pieces will be on display at Brick Row Gallery, Old Town Public House, the Dobi Financial Group office and The Warehouse Performing Arts Center. The public is invited to view the art and vote for their favorite pieces. Suggested donation is $5 per vote.

The winning team’s sculpture will be displayed at the Town of Cornelius’s History Room.

The Lake Norman Kiwanis Club hopes to open the splash park this summer. The club is $30,000 short of the $150,000 needed to fully fund the project.
