April 8. By Dave Yochum. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 2,087 new cases of COVID-19 statewide. Meanwhile, 40 percent of North Carolinians have been partially vaccinated; 28 percent are fully vaccinated.
Today’s NCDHHS new case count is higher than any day since March 26.
Hospitalizations
Statewide, hospitalizations fell to 1,004, down from 1,025 yesterday.
Testing
The statewide positive test rate fell to 5.1 percent in today’s report, down from 6.7 percent yesterday.
Deaths
There were 12 new deaths statewide attributable to COVID-19.
Mecklenburg
There was one new death in Mecklenburg County, as well as 251 new cases, up from 141 new cases yesterday and 151 new cases the day before
North Mecklenburg
Cornelius: 5 new cases, 2,735 cumulative; 24 deaths total.
Davidson: 4 new cases, 1,591 cumulative; 15 deaths total.
Huntersville: 14 new cases, 5,575 cumulative; 48 deaths total.
There have been no new COVID-19 deaths in North Meck since the end of last month.
