Annexation public hearing for Mayes Meadows set for April 21

Mayes Road project site plan

March 18. By Dave Vieser. Monday’s Town Board Meeting featured an unusually small town board acting on an equally small agenda. With Mayor Woody Washam and Commissioner Michael Osborne away, Mayor Pro Tem Scott Higgins ran the brief meeting, with Commissioners Robby Carney, Susan Johnson and Todd Sansbury representing a quorum.

The most significant piece of action was setting April 21 as the public hearing date on the annexation of Mayes Meadows.

The 190 acres of land for the 160-home project is currently located in unincorporated Mecklenburg County just west of Hwy. 115. As a condition of rezoning, the development will be annexed into the Town of Cornelius.

Keith Fenn, director of land entitlement at Keystone Custom Homes in Charlotte, said they are  aiming to have a model home built and ready for the public to view by the end of the year.

Background

While the developer is Simonini Homes, Keystone is the builder. The Mayes Meadows project will include a mix of one- and two- story homes, all with master bedrooms on the main floor.
