At 1:30 pm today Ambassador Christian School, Lake Norman’s newest high school, will hold a ribbon-cutting at the 80,000-square-foot facility on Hwy. 73 east of Hwy 115.
Melissa Gibbs, widow of JD Gibbs, President of NASCAR’s Joe Gibbs Racing, and attorney Nicole Vandiver Bryan are the school’s founders. Their goal over the course of the past three years was a high school with an emphasis on hope, truth, virtue and purpose.
The first day of classes will be Aug. 21, with 9th through 11th grade students.
Once fully built out the school will accommodate over 1,000 students.
The former mega-church facility has a 2,100-seat performance hall, a maple hardwood gymnasium and classroom spaces.
