Oct. 4. Wendy Jordan of Cornelius is the new Mrs. North Carolina, having been crowned at the 2017 pageant this past weekend in Mooresville.
Jordan, a mother of two, is an active volunteer and the owner of Jordan Digital Agency. Pageant owner Frederick C. Galle III said she is a “terrific role model for all the married women of North Carolina with her positive, goal-oriented, can-do attitude.” Her husband is Tripp Jordan.
“She is constantly giving back to her community and teaching the people of North Carolina through her efforts as a leader in enhancing the lives of the elderly,” Galle said. Jordan, who could not be reached for comment, is active with the Twilight Wish Foundation which supports senior citizens.
Galle, who lives in Sherrill’s Ford, said Jordan will be a very strong contender at Mrs. America 2017 next summer in Las Vegas.
He should know. Galle has been the owner and executive director of the Mrs. America organization North Carolina and South Carolina for 14 years.
A model and actor himself, he has appeared in such movies as “Anchorman II” and the upcoming “American Made” with Tom Cruise.
The Mrs. America contest has changed over the years. An earlier version of the pageant judged women on the basis of cooking, sewing, ironing, party preparation and other homemaking abilities and, of course, general attractiveness.
Nowadays married women from across North Carolina compete for the title in front of a panel of judges in the categories of Interview, Swimsuit, Evening Gown and Onstage Question. Contestants are escorted onstage by their husbands or family members.
