April 21. The annual Richard Sheltra Memorial Run on Saturday May 3 honors the memory of fallen Pineville Firefighter Richard Sheltra who died in the line of duty on April 30, 2016. Sheltra, 20, was killed as he fought a three-alarm fire at a local retail store.

The run seeks to honor his sacrifice and to raise money for the foundation which was formed to purchase new turnout gear and to provide educational scholarships for first responders.

The event includes a10k, 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run.

When: Saturday, May 3, opening ceremony begins at 7 am.

Where: Belle Johnston Community Center in Pineville (1000 Johnston Drive)
