Davidson’s police chief is retiring, replacement is 14-year department veteran

April 17. As of May 2, the Town of Davidson will have a new police chief. Captain Phil Geiger, a 14-year veteran of the department will replace Chief Kimber Davidson who is retiring after a little over two years on the job.

Davidson oversaw the completion of the Russell B. Knox Public Safety Building, the Co-Responder became a full-time position, the Department received a Department of Justice Grant to address domestic violence response and prosecution, retained a new Police Chaplain to support police personnel, and successfully completed the North Carolina League of Municipalities risk review assessment and the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies assessment.

Geiger’s law enforcement career includes tenures in patrol operations, investigations, the FBI Cyber Crimes Task Force, and command staff. He graduated from Ohio University, obtained his North Carolina Advanced Law Enforcement Certification, FBINAA Leadership Program, and completed the UNC School of Government Municipal and County Government Program.
