Lakeside Charter competed in history challenge

March 31. Seven students from Lakeside Charter Academy were winners in the regional round of the Great History Challenge at Winthrop University on March 25.

Their exceptional performance earned them a spot at the National competition in May, to be held in Orlando over the Memorial Day weekend. The students are:

Colton Garris – 6th Grade

Anila Gray – 5th Grade

Michael Biniam–7th Grade

Anthony Portillo – 7th Grade

Alexis Cantwell – 8th Grade

Mason Richards – 7th Grade

Brooklyn Nelson – 6th Grade

“This is an incredible opportunity for our students to showcase their knowledge and skills on a national stage, and we couldn’t be prouder,” said Principal Wayne Muhammad.

He thanked teachers and staff for their guidance and support, especially Regional Champion Coach Mrs. Scott.

The Great History Challenge (GHC) is an exciting, nationwide academic competition designed to bring history to life for middle school students. Over 40,000 participants across the country test their knowledge and critical thinking skills through engaging, history-based games. Every student from grades 6–8 has the opportunity to participate in the school-wide round, which seamlessly integrates into the school day with minimal setup.
