Feb. 24. By Dave Yochum. A mansion owned by billionaire athlete Michael Jordan has been torn down, presumably to build an even more spectacular lakefront home. The 11,000 square foot house was previously lived in by Jordan’s mother.
The property has an appraised value of $6.175 million, according to Mecklenburg County property records.
It’s adjacent to the picture-perfect seventh hole at The Peninsula Club.

The race shop and team headquarters are in Huntersville.
According to Mecklenburg County records, the Jordan Family Gift Trust purchased the one-acre estate in The Peninsula for $2.8 million in 2013. A new mansion will be built in its place.
