2 long-time town employees are retiring

Jan. 22. Two retiring town employees were honored at the Tuesday Jan. 21 meeting of the Cornelius Town Board. Police Cpt. Steve Davis and Public Works Supervisor Rick Overcash had a total of 60 years between them.

—Davis joined the Cornelius Police on Feb. 26, 1996 and worked his was up through the positions of sergeant, leutenant and finally captain.

—Overcash joined the town in 1992 as a meter reader. He worked in numerous positions until he became a supervisor in the town’s growing public works operation. He also is a volunteer firefighter.

Overcash will continue to be seen around town as he will assume a part-time position in the spring.

  1. Two of Cornelius’s legends! We cannot say enough about how well these two gentlemen served our town’s citizens over countless years. Their impact is off the charts.

    • Ricky, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your well earned retirement. You made me feel welcome in January of ‘96 when I came to work for the Town. I loved working for the Town and I hope your career, although with a few bumpy patches, was indeed rich and rewarding. Again, all the best!
