Nov. 20. By Dave Vieser. There’s likely to be a New Years gift for residents on or near Bethel Church Road: A lower speed limit.
NCDOT spokeswoman Jen Goodwin told Cornelius Today this week that they are working on getting the ordinance process approved for 35 mph.
The process typically takes roughly six weeks. After final approval, new signs can be installed.
Goodwin said that with the upcoming holidays, it may be the first of the year when the change can be scheduled.
The request to reduce the speed limit from the current 45 mph came from the Cornelius Town Board and stems from the fact that Bethel Church Road is almost entirely residential street with numerous pedestrians and cyclists.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
