Tommy’s Appliance Tips: Service repair companies

Oct. 7. Cornelius resident Tommy Walker had more than 50 years experience in appliance repair and operated Tommy’s Appliance Service until retiring a few years ago.  Tommy offers his advice for various appliances.

When it comes to getting repair service, the most important decision is to pick the right service repair company.

The best rule of thumb is to ask neighbors who have had service problems and gotten good results..

One thing I did discover from personal experience was to avoid companies that charge a fee to recommend a repair company.

Word of mouth is the best. When making a call for service, first impressions are best. Did the serviceman did the arrive on time, give an estimate and explain problem and warranty on their work?

Don’t hesitate to ask how long they have done this type of repair work.

Be careful, so many companies today I would not want in my house. Ask questions, and weigh the answers.
