Feb. 1. The Cornelius Town Board will hold a public hearing tonight on an application to erect a 190-foot cell phone tower on Treynorth Drive in an industrially zoned section of the town. The request, from Florida based SCI Towers, calls for a conditional use permit. The fenced area for the proposed tower will be roughly 5,330 square feet, and an access easement will allow service vehicles to utilize the existing parking lanes to get to the site. The tower will provide service for multiple carriers with Verizon as the lead carrier. Also at Monday’s meeting, the board will consider a zoning change which would allow Circle K to build a convenience store and commercial building at the southwest corner of Highway 115 and Bailey Road. The required community meeting was held in November and no members of the community attended. The town board meeting gets under way at 7 pm, in Town Hall on Catawba Avenue.
