Some homes still without power

Sept. 28. Fifty-five homes are without power on Stough Farms and Weaver Circle off Meta Road this morning, as yard and road clean-up continues. Duke crews were en route as of 8 am.

The outage, which was caused by fallen trees or limbs, is expected to be repaired early this afternoon.

Saturday forecast

Sunny, with a high near 80. South wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Lake level

Meanwhile, Lake Norman was at 99.8 feet as of 11:35 last night, up more than a foot due to rain from Tropical Storm Helene.

Duke Energy will be moving large amounts of water through the Catawba River System including Lake Norman on its way to Mountain Island Lake and Lake Wylie where more flooding may occur.

State disaster

Gov. Roy Cooper also requested a Major Disaster Declaration from the federal government for North Carolina in the aftermath of the storm which came slowly and seemed to leave quickly.
