Aug. 15. Mecklenburg County’s historic American Legion Memorial Stadium will host Carolina Ascent FC for the opening of a historic season this Saturday. Carolina Ascent, the only women’s professional sports team in Mecklenburg County, will play its home soccer matches at the iconic stadium, which seats 10,500 fans.
Maryann Bruce, managing member of the Ascent investor group, Empower HER Fund, is a long-time Cornelius resident, financial executive and board member at Amalgamated Bank.
Her daughter Vicky Bruce was the first signing in Carolina Ascent FC history.
