Community meeting set for new commercial project on W. Catawba

Proposed commercial project on W. Catawba

July 2. A community meeting about a proposed retail project on West Catawba Avenue will take place Wednesday July 10, beginning at 6 pm in Cornelius Town Hall.

The proposed multi-tenant project would have restaurants on each end, plus medical/offices between the two eateries, as well as another building of approximately 6,700 square feet behind the restaurant structure, for a total of 14,000 square feet.

The 4.35 acre site is the former First Community Bank property east of Chick-fil-A.

An initial review of the project was completed in May by the town’s Pre-development Review Committee.

“The feedback at the PDRC meeting was positive with access and connectivity with adjacent properties being an active topic discussed,” said Planning Director Rox Burhans.

The next step after the community meeting will be an informal presentation at the Monday July 15 Town Board Meeting, which will begin at 6 pm. No decision will be made that evening.
