May 1. Cornelius Police said the procession for fallen Deputy US Marshal Thomas Weeks Jr. from the Medical Examiner’s Office in Charlotte to the Cavin Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville will pass through Cornelius sometime after 11:15 am.
A Cornelius-Lemley Fire Dept. fire truck will be in the roadway blocking one lane on the Diverging Diamond of Catawba Avenue while another fire truck will be blocking a lane at the Westmoreland Road bridge.
Those wishing to pay their respects to Marshal Weeks are encouraged to do so from the center sidewalk located on the Exit 28 Diverging Diamond.
People are asked to park in parking lots and not block any of the roadways or driveways. Police discourage viewing the procession from the Westmoreland Road Bridge because there is no shoulder.
Once the procession has passed, the roadways will be open as normal.
