The Sheng Player: A British/Chinese Mixed Family’s Live Performance and More
7:30 – 9:45pm | March 18. A fun-loving British/Chinese mixed family from London. Yi Guo is a player of the sheng, an ancient Chinese musical instrument dating back to 1100 BCE. His work has been featured on over 200 movies, including The Last Emperor. Accompanying him to Davidson will be his English wife, Amanda, and their son, Toto Guo, who is an international model and actor splitting his time between China and the UK. Music and stories. Davidson College Choirs: KITKA

The nine women in KITKA are fearless sonic explorers who for over four decades, have developed a vast, breathtaking repertoire of traditional songs from the Balkans, Caucasus, and Slavic lands, as well as new material composed for the group drawing on those ancient vocal practices. 7:30 pm March 20-23; 2 pm March 24. The Music Department collaborates with the Theatre Department in this production of Bright Star, featuring musical echoes of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Bright Star is a haunting tale of love and redemption set among a rich ensemble of characters in the North Carolina mountains in the 1940’s. Literary editor Alice Murphy sets out to discover the familial secret that binds her to a young writer just back from World War II. Registration open for Mayors Fitness Challenge
The 2024 Mayors Fitness Challenge will take place for six weeks from April 7 – May 19. The goal is for residues of Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville to have the most active minutes collectively each week. At the end of the six weeks, the town with the highest average total of active minutes will be awarded the Fittest Community trophy.

Hours vary | March 29. Home Grown is an annual mixed media exhibit celebrating our artistic community. Artists of all levels are invited to submit 2D and 3D work. This is a non-juried exhibit that allows our community of artists to explore their creativity.
For the first time, the Cain Center for the Arts has added an exhibit for artists from the ages of 10-16 .
This exhibit is open at the Cornelius Arts Center Gallery, and available to view by the public on 10 am – 4 pm Mondays -Tuesdays and 10 am-1 pm Wednesdays.
