Registration opens for Mayors Fitness Challenge

The 2024 Mayors Fitness Challenge will take place for six weeks from April 7 – May 19. The goal is for residues of Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville to have the most active minutes collectively each week. At the end of the six weeks, the town with the highest average total of active minutes will be awarded the Fittest Community trophy. Registration for this year’s fitness challenge opens March 4. 

Wednesday, March 6

Chronicles of Yarnia Discussion Group

1 – 3 pm | March 6. Join fellow yarn and textile enthusiasts to share inspiration, ideas, and stories from our experiences as knitters, crocheters, and crafters. This program is not led by an instructor; it’s a social circle for sharing, building understanding and community. Meet up with other knitters or crocheters for self-directed projects in yarn and thread. Bring your own project to work on; no supplies are provided. Must register. Every Wednesday. The Good Life: The Artistry of Tony Bennett

Doors 7 pm, show 8 pm | March 8. Join jazz vocalist/trumpeter Joe Gransden and his quartet as they take you on a swingin’ stroll through the life and career of Tony Bennett. Tickets $35-$55. Cain Center For The Arts, Cornelius.

6:30-9:30 pm | March 8. Be ready to dance and enjoy the music of Thurston Howell Band, a premier Yatch Rock spectacular. Silent and live auctions, food truck and fun. Tickets Benefits Big Day at the Lake for Big Brothers Big Sisters Central Carolinas. Lost Worlds Brewing, Cornelius.

Robin Spielberg

8 pm | March 9. Now in her fourth decade of creating music and touring, Robin Spielberg has had a long and storied career as a pianist, composer, recording artist, entrepreneur, speaker, writer, music therapy advocate and educator.  Spielberg has been hailed as one of America’s most popular contemporary female pianists/composers and one of the most expressive pianists of our time. Tickets $25-$45. Cain Center for the Arts, Cornelius.

Home Grown Junior!

Hours vary | March 29. Home Grown is an annual mixed media exhibit celebrating our artistic community. Artists of all levels are invited to submit 2D and 3D work. This is a non-juried exhibit that allows our community of artists to explore their creativity.

For the first time, the Cain Center for the Arts  has added an exhibit for artists from the ages of 10-16 .

This exhibit is  open at the Cornelius Arts Center Gallery, and available to view by the public on 10 am – 4 pm Mondays -Tuesdays and 10 am-1 pm Wednesdays.
