Oct. 23. By Dave Vieser. The much-needed $2.89 million improvement project for Jetton Road Extension from West Catawba Ave to Liverpool begin today. Motorists should expect delays and occasional lane closings during the construction which will last through June of next year.
Jetton Road extension has become an increasingly popular alternative for motorists seeking to avoid congestion on West Catawba, but the roadway has deteriorated and the “bump-outs” near intersections are outdated and dangerous.
New parking lot
According to Assistant Town Manager Tyler Beardsley, the project includes removing all on-street parking and adding bike lanes, as well as repaving from West Catawba to Liverpool. The town will also add a 10-foot multi-use path on the south side of Jetton Extension, and a 27-space public parking lot near the building at 19924 Jetton where Lakeside Sports Chiropractic is located.
Work near the two private schools will be limited to weekends.
