Oct. 11. The 67 outdoor warning sirens around the McGuire Nuclear Station in Huntersville will be tested for three minutes between 11 am and 1 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
No public action is required.
This scheduled testing is performed in cooperation with emergency officials in Mecklenburg, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln and Catawba counties, who are responsible for sounding the sirens.
To ensure the sirens are functioning properly, it may be necessary to test some more than once.
If there was ever a real emergency at the plant requiring the sirens to be sounded, local radio and television stations would broadcast information and instructions to the public.
