Aug. 10. The Neighborhood CARE Center is partnering with Grace Covenant to provide free backpacks, school supplies and shoes to neighborhood children on Saturday.

The Neighborhood CARE Center will be provide more than 500 backpacks filled with school supplies for the community at Smithville Park, 19710 South Ferry St., Cornelius, from 2-5 pm Saturday, Aug. 12.

Plan for fun, as well, with bounce houses, games, activities, giveaways. There’ll be hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones and drinks.

Samaritans Feet will provide shoes for the neighborhood kids, according to CARE center director Manny Rosado. Convoy of Hope has provided over 1,200 bags of snacks. The Cornelius Parks and Recreation Department is also participating.

Unity in Community will be registering people to vote at the backpack blessing event and still has a need for some volunteers. Click here to sign up.
